Key Insights:
- Vitalik Buterin states that the 2030 design for Ethereum will integrate advanced cryptographic proofs with blockchain architecture.
- The Hegota upgrade may serve as Ethereum’s final “normal” fork ahead of quantum-safe upgrades and recursive STARKs transforming the network.
- Ethereum price prediction
Recent Ethereum news focused on the network’s long-term design after Vitalik Buterin released a new roadmap for 2030. He outlined a transition toward a system centered around decentralized off-chain computation, privacy, and cryptographic verification.
CoinMarketCap data showed ETH trading near $2,685 on Sept. 28, remaining close to a supply zone tracked by analysts above $2,700.
Ethereum News: Buterin Maps a Cryptographic 2030 Design
Vitalik Buterin refers to this proposed framework as a “cryptographic world computer.” In this model, computers can execute transactions and generate brief mathematical proofs confirming adherence to Ethereum rules. Network participants can then check these proofs rather than running the full computation again.
Such a structure divides network workload while ensuring results remain independently verifiable.
Under the current setup, full nodes must duplicate much of the identical transaction processing. While this method facilitates verification, adding more computers does not directly scale network capacity.
According to Vitalik Buterin, newer proof systems can alter this dynamic. Additionally, data availability sampling allows nodes to confirm transaction data availability without downloading every individual piece of information.
Hegota Could Mark the End of Normal Forks
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin anticipates that Hegota—an upgrade scheduled for 2027—will be the final “normal” fork for the network. Subsequent upgrades are expected to incorporate automated formal verification, recursive STARKs, and more streamlined consensus mechanisms. Furthermore, Ethereum developers are working on cryptography designed to withstand potential attacks from future quantum computers.
Prior to Hegota, the Glamsterdam upgrade is slated for the fourth quarter of 2026. Fusaka already introduced PeerDAS in December 2025, enabling validators to sample blob data rather than downloading all of it. Buterin anticipates that this methodology will eventually apply to complete block contents.
The 2030 outline targets block slots lasting approximately four to eight seconds, with transaction finality projected between roughly eight and 32 seconds. However, Ethereum will still need to settle operations where the exact order of transactions matters.
Privacy and Verification Move Into the Core Design
The roadmap also alters how user wallets interact with the Ethereum network. Typically, when checking an address or balance, a wallet queries an external server, which can potentially track the user’s followed accounts.
Vitalik Buterin aims for future privacy features to conceal these inquiries, alongside payment details and account authorization rules.
The proposed architecture likewise transforms how lightweight users verify activity. Instead of downloading and re-running every block, nodes will be able to sample data and review compact proofs.
Additionally, Vitalik Buterin expects off-chain signature aggregation, wherein a single aggregated signature gets recorded on-chain for each block. This approach shifts validation away from repeated computations and toward cryptographic evidence.
ETH Whales Build Positions Near Supply Wall
Meanwhile, network activity has increased as Ethereum nears a heavy supply zone. Citing Santiment figures, analyst Ali Martinez reported that transactions valued above $1 million jumped from 1,202 to 7,113 within the span of a week, marking a nearly 500% surge.
ETH news: Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum’s 2030 design will use cryptographic proofs, off-chain computing, privacy tools and quantum-safe security.
During the same timeframe, large holders accumulated upwards of 320,000 ETH valued at approximately $864 million, according to the news.
Data from Glassnode shared by Martinez identifies a significant supply wall between $2,722 and $2,822, where over 13.3 million ETH previously changed hands. Additional smaller concentrations of distribution appear near $2,970 and $3,366.
