- CoreWeave shares have experienced downward pressure over the last few months.
- Analysts at JPMorgan remain optimistic about the firm, highlighting its solid market share.
- A head-and-shoulders pattern has emerged, indicating potential for additional declines.
CoreWeave shares finished at $90.13 on September 24 following an upgrade from JPMorgan for the AI infrastructure provider. The financial institution raised CRWV from Neutral to Overweight while increasing its December 2027 target to $125, which sits approximately 38.7% higher than the most recent closing price.
This positive adjustment followed several months of choppy trading for CoreWeave stock. CRWV peaked for 2026 near $138.25 during May before undergoing a steep summer pullback. Even with this drop, the enterprise continued to post rapid revenue expansion along with strengthening compute pricing.
CoreWeave Stock Gets $125 Target From JPMorgan
CRWV shares have retreated recently, though JPMorgan analysts anticipate a near-term rebound. In a published note, the bank shifted its rating from neutral to overweight and pushed its price target up from $120 to $125, pointing toward a 42% potential upside from current levels.
JPMorgan highlights multiple catalysts that could drive the stock upward over time, beginning with pricing strength, which the institution expects to remain favorable. Recent figures indicate that artificial intelligence firms remain willing to allocate substantial capital toward leasing GPUs.
Additionally, the bank asserts that the enterprise has secured a leading position in the neocloud sector, outpacing major competitors such as Nebius and IREN. CoreWeave has already secured major contracts with entities like Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic, reporting a net revenue backlog exceeding $106 billion in its most recent earnings disclosure.
JPMorgan joins a group of major institutions revising their CoreWeave stock outlook upward. UBS initiated coverage with a buy recommendation and a $120 target, Rosenblatt elevated its target to $250, and Truist Securities alongside Goldman Sachs set targets of $165 and $139, respectively.
Despite this positive sentiment, the company maintains elevated short interest, indicating that numerous market participants anticipate a future stock decline.
Strong Growth is Coming at a Cost
The latest financial figures indicate that CoreWeave’s top-line expansion is accelerating this year as the artificial intelligence momentum builds. Second-quarter revenue surged by 112%, surpassing both internal guidance and analyst forecasts.
The firm’s revenue backlog continued expanding, supported by customers across diverse industries. While technology enterprises represent the primary clients, the company has also drawn other participants, including high-frequency trading titan Jane Street, pushing the total revenue backlog past $104 billion.
Nevertheless, this expansion entails significant expenses. The organization plans capital expenditures between $35 billion and $39 billion this year, surpassing earlier projections. This expenditure jump stems partly from persistent memory, GPU, and server expenses.
Consequently, CoreWeave has significantly expanded its debt burden, concluding the previous quarter with more than $29 billion in liabilities—well above its figures from last year. It has also continued diluting equity holders, driving total outstanding shares sharply higher to 457 million compared with 317 million during its initial public offering last year.
Furthermore, the organization operates in a fiercely competitive landscape where rivals like Nscale and SpaceX are capturing portions of the market.
CRWV Stock Price Technical Analysis
CoreWeave also confronts notable technical headwinds. The equity has formed a head-and-shoulders chart formation, a widely recognized bearish reversal indicator in technical analysis, and now trades just above a crucial support barrier at $67.98—its lowest mark seen in November and December of last year, as well as March and July of this year.
Furthermore, the stock has slipped under its 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA). This introduces the risk of a significant downward breakdown toward $50, a scenario that would be validated should the price drop below the $67.98 neckline.
