Bitcoin 6-Month Supply Hits 81% High as ETF Inflows Surge

Key Insights:

  • During Q3, retail investors repurchased in excess of 107,000 Bitcoin (BTC).
  • Fidelity’s Jurrien Timmer shared a potential Bitcoin price target of $100K, alongside a further projection of $300K by 2029.
  • U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reeled in $2.39 billion across five consecutive sessions running from September 21–25.

The price of Bitcoin hovered near $84,700 as restricted supply and revived ETF interest bolstered the recent recovery. According to River Financial, 81% of circulating BTC has remained stationary for a minimum of six months.

This supply movement aligns with heightened demand for regulated funds. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in roughly $2.39 billion during the trading week of September 21–25.

Bitcoin’s 6-Month Supply Held Hits New Highs

Roughly 81% of all Bitcoin has stayed put for at least six months, indicating that in excess of 16 million Bitcoins are currently sitting dormant. Meanwhile, long-term participants have amassed more than 3 million BTC since 2020.

Additionally, figures from River Financial indicate that only about 300,000 BTC exited older wallets throughout the first half of 2026. At the same time, retail traders offloaded a net 140,000 BTC in the initial half of the year prior to purchasing over 107,000 BTC back in Q3.

The River Financial assessment also emphasized that Bitcoin’s existing bear market departs from historical trends. Analysts point out that it appears both shorter and milder than the preceding three bear markets.

Bitcoin Price Is Ready for $100K, Says Fidelity

Ever since the Bitcoin price rally kicked off in mid-August, BTC has maintained a firm stance above the $84,000 threshold. Enhancing fundamentals and on-chain metrics hint that BTC could be advancing toward $100K and beyond.

Jurrien Timmer, Director of Global Macro at Fidelity, remarked that Bitcoin appears particularly compelling as it tests resistance close to $80,000. He pointed out that a breakout past this point would validate a double-bottom structure, pointing toward a possible objective of $100,000.

Timmer also noted that Bitcoin’s power law model continues to signal the presence of a fresh cyclical bull market now that BTC has successfully defended the $60,000 mark. That model suggests a potential price objective of $300,000 by 2029.

Bitcoin ETF Demand Remains Strong

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $2.39 billion in net inflows across five straight trading days from September 21 through September 25. This establishes the strongest weekly performance of 2026, accompanied by a single-day BTC intake nearing $1 billion during the week.

Although the velocity of inflows moderated compared to Monday’s peak, all five sessions finished in positive territory. During a comparable influx wave in August, the price of BTC advanced from $64,000 to $81,000. Over the preceding 90 days, Bitcoin ETFs have gathered $5.81 billion in net inflows, demonstrating continuous institutional interest amid fluctuating market conditions.
